IIST Astronomy and Astrophysics School

The Department of Earth & Space Sciences of IIST is organising its annual Astronomy & Astrophysics School from 13 July 2026 – 22 July 2026. The school is meant to acquaint students with the basics of astrophysics. The lectures will be at a fundamental level with introductions to more advanced topics.

Details of the Summer School

• Mode: In-Person
• Venue: Science Block , C305
• The selected participants for the school will be informed through email by the second week of June
• The selected participants will have to pay a registration fee of Rs. 1000/-

Students from any one of the following backgrounds are eligible to apply for the school

• M Sc Physics - Completed First Year and Moving to Second YearIntegrated MS (Physics)
• Completed Fourth Year and Moving to Final Year.B.Tech (Engineering Physics)
• Completed Third Year and Moving to Final Year.

We typically receive a large number of applications from prospective participants. As the number of seats is limited, we may not be in a position to consider applications from students who do not belong to one of the above categories. Interested candidates should complete the registration online from the link given before May 27, 2026. The selected participants for the school will be intimated through email by the Second week of June.
