School of Technology, Dhirubhai Ambani University (DAU) invites applications from passionate individuals for the Teaching Fellow (TF) Program a unique opportunity to contribute to teaching while gaining valuable academic experience.

Overview 

  • Blend of teaching and research: Teaching Fellows (TFs) will actively contribute to the teaching-learning process in both undergraduate and postgraduate courses (3 courses per semester).
  • Hands-on teaching role: Lead labs under the guidance of experienced professors. 
  • Interdisciplinary experience: Collaborate with faculty across diverse disciplines to enrich courses and curriculum. 
  • Preferred domains: Data Structures, Database Management Systems, Big Data Engineering, Computer Networks, System Programming, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing (NLP), Analog Electronics, Digital IC Design, Embedded Hardware Design, Digital Logic and Computer Organization, and Communication Systems.

Eligibility

Master's degree (minimum) in a relevant field (First Class/high CGPA) and a strong academic record. GATE/NET qualification preferred. Prior teaching, research, or industry experience is a plus. Selection Process The final selection will be based on shortlisting and an interview conducted by a selection panel. 

Job Category: 

Full-time contractual position. The appointment will be made on an annual contract, renewable each year based on satisfactory performance and continued organizational requirements. 

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive stipend: 55,000/month (Master's degree) or ₹65,000/month (PhD).

This one week National Faculty Development Program (FDP) is designed to offer faculty members and researchers from the various disciplines a comprehensive understanding of statistical techniques essential for research. This 40-hour FDP focuses on the practical application of statistical analysis using R and JAMOVI, combining theoretical knowledge with hands-on learning. It emphasizes quantitative methods for data collection, analysis, and interpretation to support high-quality research.

Target Audience & Selection Criteria

  • Faculty members and researchers from diverse academic disciplines who seek to enhance their statistical analysis skills using open-source tools, particularly R and JAMOVI.
  • Participants will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis. Bringing a laptop for hands-on practice during all sessions is mandatory.

Assessment and Certification

  • Participants will be evaluated based on their performance in a capstone project presentation and their active participation in hands-on sessions.
  • Certificates will be awarded to those who successfully complete all program requirements

Proposed outcomes & Justification

The National Faculty Development Program on “Exploring Statistical Techniques for Research Using R and JAMOVI” aims to equip participants with essential statistical skills and tools necessary for conducting rigorous research and data analysis. Upon completion, faculty members and researchers will be proficient in applying statistical methods such as hypothesis testing, regression analysis, ANOVA, factor analysis, non-parametric tests, etc. using R and JAMOVI. These tools will enhance their ability to analyse, interpret, and present data effectively in real-world research scenarios. This FDP will improve the quality of academic research by enabling participants to leverage open-source software for data-driven decision-making and to integrate these statistical techniques into their teaching, fostering greater student engagement and understanding. The hands-on learning approach ensures practical application, making participants competent in using modern statistical methods tailored to the needs of research, thus elevating their research outcomes and scholarly contributions.

Transportation

Surat is well connected by rail, road, and air to all major cities and towns. Veer Narmad South Gujarat University is located approximately 11 km from the Surat Railway Station and Central Bus Stand, and about 7 km from Surat Airport. Local transportation, including buses and auto-rickshaws, is readily available for commuting.

ABOUT THE MALAVIYA MISSION SCHEME

The Ministry of Education (MoE) has sought strengthening of the synergy and integration between HRDCs and MMTTP (PMMMNMTT) centres to meet the objectives of NEP 2020, keeping in view the optimal utilization of infrastructure, human and financial resources. The scheme has been designed to implement some of the recommendations and aims of the policy, which suggests some key changes to the current higher education system to revamp and reenergize it and thereby deliver high-quality higher education, with equity and inclusion. This new phase of the scheme also aims to implement the recommendations of NEP viz. to improve the quality of teaching at all levels and in all domains; to focus on equity and inclusion in higher education and promote online and digital education; ensure equitable use of technology; promote Indian language and culture; develop basic infrastructure facilities ; create awareness about gender sensitization; include vocational education in the curriculum; develop leadership and management skills; create a pool of mentors and pedagogic experts search and multidisciplinary education.
