The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) invites undergraduate engineering students to demonstrate their creativity, innovation, and leadership. This scholarship aims to recognise and support emerging engineering talent in India, enabling them to achieve excellence.

Details of the Award

  • Prizes & Rewards: Scholarship worth INR 20,00,000
  • Last Date to Apply: 15-06-2026
  • Application mode: Online applications only

Eligibility:

  • Open to full-time UG engineering students in any year from AICTE/UGC-approved institutions across all branches. Applicants must have cleared all credit courses in a single attempt with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate (or 6.0 CGPA on a 10-point scale).
  • There is no age limit.

The IET India Scholarship Award has spent the last decade recognising and nurturing the future engineering leaders of India. As the programme enters its 10th edition, it stands as a milestone platform for identifying young minds with the potential to solve real-world problems through engineering. The 10th edition opens for applications on 13 April 2026.

Last year alone, the award received an outstanding 44,000+ applications, reflecting its growing reach and relevance among engineering students across the country. To mark this landmark year, we are also featuring a commemorative 10th edition video that captures the spirit, scale and impact of the Scholarship Award journey so far. The UGC Guidelines for Internship/Research Internship for Undergraduate Students were issued by the University Grants Commission to strengthen experiential learning, employability, innovation, and research exposure for undergraduate students under NEP 2020.

Key Highlights of the Guidelines

Objectives

  • Bridge the gap between academic learning and industry/research practice
  • Improve employability and practical skills
  • Promote innovation, entrepreneurship, and research culture
  • Encourage industry-academia collaboration
  • Provide exposure to real work environments

Types of Internships

The guidelines recognize multiple categories:

  • Industry Internship
  • Research Internship
  • Community Engagement Internship
  • Entrepreneurship Internship
  • Government/NGO Internship
  • Laboratory or Field-based Internship

Duration & Credits

  • Internship/research internship is integrated into UG curriculum
  • Recommended:
  • 2–4 credits minimum within UG programmes
  • Flexible duration depending on programme structure
  • Research internships may include faculty-guided projects and field/lab work.

Expected Learning Outcomes

Students should gain:

  • Technical and professional skills
  • Communication and teamwork abilities
  • Problem-solving capacity

Roles & Responsibilities

Higher Education Institutions (HEIs)
